The Water Resources Science (WRS) graduate program is an interdisciplinary and multi-institutional program offered on the Twin Cities and Duluth campuses. The M.S. and Ph.D. programs are available on both campuses.
Students complete the same degree requirements, typically with courses from one campus or the other. Students have access to a diverse group of graduate faculty who work collaboratively across both campuses. Both campuses provide students with excellent courses and research infrastructure, as well as a number of resources to assist them during the academic year.
Twin Cities Campus
Minneapolis and St. Paul are better known as the Twin Cities. The University of Minnesota- Twin Cities is the flagship campus of the University system, with facilities spread over three main areas: West Bank, East Bank, and Saint Paul. Home to more than 52,000 students, UMN- Twin Cities has many outstanding resources available for graduate faculty and students.

Duluth Campus
While the WRS program is based primarily on the Twin Cities campus, over half of our students and a third of the faculty are housed on the Duluth campus. Based on the shores of Lake Superior, the University of Minnesota- Duluth is home to outstanding water research facilities such as the Large Lakes Observatory (LLO) and the Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI). With approximately 11,000 students, the Duluth campus is a combination of a large research university and small liberal arts college.
