Laboratories to Landscapes: The Importance of Partnerships in Addressing Water Resource Challenges
The pathway from basic research to its use on-the-ground is often long, and it can be difficult to assess how information, knowledge, and results move from the laboratory to landscapes. Joel Larson, the Associate Director of the University’s Water Resources Center (WRC), will talk about this process and share how boundary organizations like the WRC can serve two key roles: translating science to support decision-making and building collaborations within the research community. Joel will draw on several examples both inside and outside of the University and will show how organizations like the WRC can facilitate the adoption of basic and applied research, build connections between research teams, and show the value of these endeavors.
