Research Assistantships and Teaching Assistantships

Graduate research assistantships and teaching assistantships are available on a competitive basis. Graduate assistant salaries vary with the terms of individual appointments. Graduate students holding an appointment at one-quarter time or greater are eligible for health benefits and a tuition benefit equal to twice the percentage of their appointment. Assistantships are available from individual faculty and their departments and are arranged between the student and his or her advisor. The WRS program endeavors to link students and faculty with compatible educational and research interests. Nearly all WRS graduate students are offered research or teaching assistantships upon admission or within their first year in the Program. WRS Tuition and Research Fellowships

Students in the program are eligible for internally awarded tuition and research fellowships (see the application for WRS graduate assistantship). Graduate students applying to the University for the first time may be nominated by the WRS program for one of the competitive Graduate School fellowships, with an academic-year stipend  plus tuition and health care benefits. Students generally receive additional research assistantships during the summer months. To be eligible for a Graduate School fellowship for the Fall Semester, your application to the WRS graduate program must be received by December 15 of the preceding year.
