Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)Students in the Ph.D. program need to obtain the equivalent of the M.S. course work in terms of breadth plus additional focus in at least one of the WRS areas of emphasis, such as: aquatic biology, limnology, hydrologic science, watershed science and management, and water management technology, as well as an appropriate supporting program or minor. The areas of specialization in the Ph.D. program are similar to those at the M.S. level, but more flexibility within the tracks is available because of the opportunity to take additional course work. Greater depth of scholarship is required for Ph.D. students. Course work is tailored to the needs and interests of individual students, consistent with the objectives and goals of the program. Ph.D. course programs include a minimum of 40 graduate credits, excluding thesis credits, and including at least 12 credits in a supporting program or minor and completion of the ethics requirement. A minor may have additional requirements as defined by the department or program. A supporting program may draw from several disciplines, but must be composed of a coherent pattern of courses. Transfer of graduate credits from other institutions and through 99PRD registration are allowed according to Graduate School policies. Graduate School forms for Ph.D. students |
